March 2011

I have been busking for 10 years in Melbourne. and it has been the source of ( mostly ) great joy and some good opportunities and now many people know me from busking.

Here is the info for busking in Melbourne - I will add to it as I get time. It is more restricted ion Brisbane and the Gold Coast - very strict and difficult to comply and Sydeny is almost as hard. Melbour elooklike it is about to start to follow the Sydney model despit most people surveyed being in favour of busking freedom.

Other sites to look up:  If you use Facebook online - "like" my page and join my "People against stifling busking in Melbourne"  page on Facebook. All the news gets put on there and people put in their opinions etc.  Music Victorias and SLAM ( Support Live Music in Melbourne) are also involved in the efforts to keep busking freedoms.

The Melbourne City Council has info on Busking.  You have to apply and there are several new rules being discussed, including the distance apart, and rotating spots etc.. all in all it is becoming much more restircted and difficult. Other suburs and councils apart from the city also have busking relulations - look up the info according to the council district.

More soon.....
